May - The pre summer pep month

I arrived back home to Reykjavík after a month stay in Riga the 9th of May. It was great to come back home and see that spring had arrived and everyone had some color in their cheeks after the dark winter.

Valdis Jansons was one of the last subjects I met with in Latvia. He lived in a small district outside of Riga, very quiet and beautiful. When I arrived to his house he offered me coffee and while listening to Tinariwen he told me about himself and his name. Then he thought me a really cool game with matches.

On my way back home I had a stop over in Copenhagen. My father came and got me at the airport and we went for a brunch downtown. We made a visit to my second mother's workplace. She works in a medical shelter for drug abusers and homeless people. I think she's a total hero for doing what she does. We went there early and there were already some needles in the trash.

When I finally got home Gylfi was playing in Harpan with kimono. Another band playing was Tilbury, Þormóður's lovely band. Here he is with his beautiful girlfriend Sibba. The guy in the background is master drummer Kjartan sneaking around. Nothing beats a beer & nice concerts on Sunday afternoon.

When I say nothing maybe I mean something. It's also great to get a visit from these beautiful girls on a Sunday afternoon. Sophie Magdalena, Allison Grace & Mia Celeste

I love my balcony. It's big and my cat can go outside and enjoy himself. He's very curious and always looks out for other cats.

My apartment does not have a shower, only a bathtub. I like the way my feet look in the water.

On a Saturday drive downtown we stopped at a red light next to the coolest Volvo owner in Reykjavík, Palli.

April - The month spent away from home / Riga

After leaving Roskilde I continued with my travels and got on a plane to Riga.

It was my third time in Latvia, second time in Riga so I knew the city a little bit. As I found out it is also very small and reminds me of Reykjavik in many ways. I was lucky knowing a good group of Latvians who helped me out and other wonderful and like minded people I met a long the way.

And I started seeing in color again. Weird, grainy, damp colors.

I also started feeding pigeons outside my window.

Without realizing that the seagulls will follow.

Well, there were seagulls everywhere anyways...

Maybe because it's close to the Daugava river and the Central market.

I also found some of the opposites in the city fun. I've never met so many tough old women who walk so fast you might think someone was chasing after them. Then the young women and their heels. I could never walk on heels in that city. The streets are so uneven and old I would probably kill myself trying.

But there was more to Riga then Pigeons and old Birds. I went on a picnic with a few friends and project mates of Borderlines.
We went to the beach town of Jurmala and had coffee and Black Balsam at Andrejs (above) parents place. That's where I met their very fat cat.

The beach was great even though the weather was colder then expected. Edgars and Liana enjoyed it. And check out the product placement. I should get some money for that. #Here's to hoping

And finally a few shots of Riga.

April - The month spent away from home / Roskilde

I spent April traveling. First I went to visit my father and stepmother to Roskilde, Denmark. She's Danish and they have been living there since 2003. I spent Easter weekend with them and it was wonderful. We went to the A. Gursky photography exhibition in Louisiana art museum and saw the most expensive photograph ever. It was impressive to say the least.

I have always found Denmark to be a big part of me. I look at my step family there as if they were my blood relatives. I don't know life without them. Roskilde is also an interesting town, quiet but still a lot of young families that live there. My first photographs are from Roskilde.

My father Thor Jonsson and second mother Jytte Fogtman at the Louisiana museum.

Homeless man selling Hus Forbi, a magazine about homeless people and made for them to sell. It gives them some extra cash and helps raise awareness.

March - The Frizztical Month

March is a very difficult month. We get fooled so many times that spring is here but the next day it's snowing again. We even forget that no one should be optimistic about Icelandic weather until after Easter.

I got exited early March when walking to work one morning. I came across a starfish, alone on the sidewalk. Big disappointment, it was dead. Poor starfish...

I think Icelanders need their own word to describe the weather. You know, like Tropical is warm and nice and everything. I think it should be Frizztical. ''Iceland is a very frizztical place. ''

Well, we're not doing so bad. We have design March. It's always fun to celebrate the good old fashion craft of creation.

And the parties of course..

At the end of the month nothing beats seeing the flowers brake their way through the ground.

February - The short month

It has been a busy month, when it rains it pours right?

We got a new family member three weeks ago. It's a one year old cat, we named him Roscoe (Like the song with Midlake).  It's nice having him around. I feel good for saving him from the animal shelter.

That's the only colored photo this month. I've been looking for a new 'old' camera and I found one in a box under my bed for a total coincident. I was out of colored films the other day so I tried a black/white film in it. It suites the darkness this time of year.

This month is black and white. It's about the opposites that are around.

January 2012 - The birthday month

I have never been a fan of January. It's dark and the weather gets unpredictable. I think the mood of our nation follows the weather. It's also my birthday, I just turned twenty five so no excuses anymore.

Looking through my images of January I realized what a busy month it had been. And a fun one!

For instance this photo of Siggi Maggi Finns a.k.a. Siggi frændi

No man wants to find a women pointing a camera through his crotch.

I'm always catching myself photographing my apartment. For instance my cd & book shelf's. I love the colors and details.

Gunnar Örn Tynes, at Hugleikur's place

 Silla's drink & Robbi's feet

I also went to the Gogoyoko wireless concert at Kex hostel. The lovely Sóley (above) was playing. She's such a wonderful and talented person.

So talented that my view the whole concert witch was this

Although the month has been dark there is a settle beauty behind it.

For instance the tree that shields my balcony and bedroom window and when the sun finally brakes through after a stormy week.

Until next month

December 2011 - The dark month

December has never been a favorite of mine. It get's very dark and that makes photographing outside more difficult. But I survived and now it's time to see what came out of this month in photos.

Vilhelm Anton a co-worker of mine made his desk junk into a piece of art.

Early December I went to London with ENNEMM. I have never been before and although we only stayed for 2 nights I really enjoyed the city.

On my walk from Brick Lane to Soho I came across construction workers taking a lunch.

Living in Reykjavik and having a view over Esja is great. It always tells you when winter comes and goes. I went down to the harbor where the ferry to Viðey goes and looked over the snow fallen mountain. There I saw these Russian ships tied to the harbor.

Later that month I went out to dinner with Gogoyoko. Christmas menu and a lot of smoked meet with red wine made the night wonderful. The room where our group stayed in had a reindeer head hanging on the wall.

The cat that lives next door. It snowed so much this month. It hasn't been so much snow in Reykjavik since 1984. Poor thing wanted to get in, but the door was locked.

And then came the new year with all the fireworks. Happy new year!
